Jerry, although I appreciate the accomplishments of the others, I especially appreciate your efforts to promote the sport of distance/ultra running with your sponsorship of DMTM, Lean Horse, etc. Folks like you, Ben Holmes and others are what really makes the sport great - and accessible to those of us who aren't - and will never be - regarded as "elites". Of the dozen trail races (in excess of 26 miles) I'm running this year, I'm looking forward to DMTM and Lean Horse the most. Thanks! Mark

Your post reminded me of a great podcast from WNYC Radiolab I listened to yesterday on my run. It was called "Limits" ... you can find it here: http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/. It wasn't about charity, but about human endurance. Very interesting.

Running for causes is great and with a little effort people are willing to donate. It is humbling in itself to be asking for donations, but as a friend said when I down played it, "it is a big deal." I raised over $1600 three years ago in a 32.5 divided between the American Cancer Society and Lutherans For Life.
